Valencia CF and the Banco de Alimentos food bank have been working together for several months since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The club made Mestalla available as a distribution point for handing out food through the Banco de Acción Solidaria scheme, which is still in operation and serves more than 7,000 people in the city of Valencia .
The Banco de Alimentos is now taking another step forward to help those in need. This week it launched the Gran Recogida de Alimentos 2020 food donation scheme, to promote direct donations at more than 600 supermarkets in the Valencia region. The change to monetary contributions has come about due to safety protocol that has limited the donation of food products themselves.
Valencia CF, through the VCF Academy, lent a helping hand as part of their social responsibility action project #AcademiaEnComunidad, carried out with the collaboration of the Valencia CF Foundation.
A large group of players from the Cadete team participated as volunteers outside a 'Consum' supermarket in Bétera, to help make customers aware of the importance of collaborating in the Gran Recogida de Alimentos 2020 del Banco de Alimentos de Valencia. The experience was an enriching one for them, and also helped raise money for a worthy cause that the club continue to support.
